Mangaluru, Jul 13: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru hosted the PTA general body meeting for the academic year 2025–26 on July 12 in the school auditorium. With the shared vision of nurturing dreams, fuelling passions, and shaping a future of boundless potential for the students, the event brought together educators and parents in a spirit of collaboration and commitment.

The morning commenced on a serene and spiritual note with a soulful invocation rendered by the school choir, setting the tone for a reflective and meaningful gathering. This was followed by a captivating welcome dance performed by the talented dancers of Grade V, blending rhythm, grace and tradition into a vibrant cultural expression.

Sr Melissa, the principal, formally welcomed the gathering and ushered in the proceedings of the day. In her address, she extended a special welcome to the keynote speaker, Shashikala B, senior counsellor and coordinator of community services and academic programmes at Dr Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital, and her team members Ashwith and Nandakishore. She also acknowledged the dedicated services of the PTEC members and the unwavering commitment of the teaching faculty whose continued support strengthens the fabric of the MCCS family.

A detailed overview of the activities and accomplishments of the PTA for the academic year 2024–25 was presented by Tr Reshma, PTA secretary, through the Annual Report. This was followed by Tr Lavita, PTA treasurer, who shared the audited financial report, ensuring transparency and accountability.

The election of the new executive committee for the academic year 2025–26 was efficiently conducted under the guidance of Sr Carissima, the school administrator. Sr Melissa expressed her gratitude to the outgoing committee members for their service and welcomed the newly elected team, seeking their wholehearted cooperation in the journey ahead.

A proud moment followed, as Tr Vidya and Tr Priyanka announced the names of the high achievers of grade X and XII who excelled in the 2024–25 board examinations. The auditorium echoed with applause as the audience celebrated the toppers and their parents who were honored by the dignitaries for their unwavering dedication and hard work.

The keynote session by Shashikala B proved to be both enlightening and impactful. She addressed the crucial topic of “Mental health and well-being of students”, with a special focus on creating awareness about drug abuse, a growing concern in today’s educational landscape. Her insights were thought-provoking and left the audience with valuable perspectives on supporting children’s emotional and psychological wellness.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Preema D’Cunha, PTA vice president, who acknowledged the contributions of all who played a role in making the day’s event a grand success.

The meeting truly served its purpose, to unite parents and educators as partners in the holistic growth of every child, helping them develop strong roots and take flight towards a promising future. The event was anchored gracefully by Tr Reema, who ensured the smooth flow of the programme with elegance and poise.
