Jerusalem, Jul 10: The Israeli military announced it has conducted a series of “targeted operations” in southern Lebanon, aimed at dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure and weapons depots, despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that troops raided multiple locations believed to house Hezbollah’s military assets. In one operation, a compound containing weapons caches and firing positions was located and dismantled. In another, soldiers uncovered weapons hidden in thick vegetation in the Labbouneh area — including a multi-barrel rocket launcher, a heavy machine gun, and dozens of explosive devices. An underground storage facility was also located and destroyed.

The IDF said the raids were intended to “prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing itself” in areas near the Israeli border.
There has been no immediate response from Hezbollah regarding the recent strikes.
Although a ceasefire brought an end to 14 months of cross-border hostilities in late 2024, Israel has continued to carry out periodic air and ground strikes in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces claim these operations are necessary to eliminate what they term as Hezbollah “threats,” including arms depots, missile launchers, and command sites.
On June 20, the IDF confirmed airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions, including rocket and missile facilities. These attacks, according to the military, were in response to renewed Hezbollah activity in violation of previous ceasefire understandings.
Among those killed in the operations was Mohammad Khader Al-Husseini, the commander of Hezbollah’s firepower network in Lebanon’s Litani sector.
Despite the truce, Israel has retained a military presence at five key posts within southern Lebanon. While airstrikes have continued regularly, Wednesday’s ground raids marked a rare extension of IDF activity beyond those designated positions.
