Mangaluru, July 2: As part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and maintain law and order across three coastal districts, including Dakshina Kannada, the newly-formed Special Task Force (STF) officers and personnel underwent hands-on training in the use of Anti-Riot guns and Stun Shells on Wednesday, July 2, at Nehru Maidan in the city.

The practical session aimed to equip officers with the skills needed to effectively disperse violent mobs in the event of communal disturbances or civil unrest. A total of 95 officers and staff from the STF’s operational wing participated in the training and live demonstrations.

In addition, select personnel from the intelligence and legal divisions received specialised training in intelligence gathering and technical monitoring of social media platforms. The session focused on identifying and tracking hate speech and other sensitive content to ensure swift preventive action.

The training was supervised by senior police officials under the guidance of the commissioner of police and DIG, Special Task Force, Mangaluru City. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to preserve communal harmony and public peace in the region.
