Mangaluru, June 26: Another fight has broken out among inmates at the District Central Jail in Kodialbail, Mangaluru. On Thursday (June 26), prisoners engaged in a physical altercation inside the prison premises.

The clash involved Ullal’s notorious rowdy Mukhtar and other inmates. Mukhtar reportedly assaulted another inmate named Keshav. Keshav, who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to Wenlock Hospital by the police.

Keshav is an accused in the Akshay Kallega murder case that occurred on November 6, 2023, and has been serving time in jail. Mohammad Mukhtar, a resident of Dharmanagar in Ullal, is accused in 15 criminal cases and was arrested in July 2022 after being shot in the leg during the arrest.

Following the latest jail fight, a case has been registered at the Barke police station. Officers from Barke Station and the ACP visited the jail and conducted an inspection.

Repeated clashes among inmates over the past few months have raised serious concerns about the security and management of the prison.
