Sullia, June 25: A woman died and over 20 passengers sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two KSRTC buses near Aranthodu on the Mani–Mysuru National Highway on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at a curve near Udayanagar, close to Aranthodu in Sullia taluk, when a KSRTC bus travelling from Mangaluru to Madikeri collided with another KSRTC bus returning to Madikeri from the same direction after a medical visit.


The deceased has been identified as Bharati (50), a resident of Gudde Hosuru in Kushalnagar, who was returning home after treatment in Mangaluru. She suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.
The injured include Chaitra (22), Mayilp (43), Shravya Shree (24), Kumudini (24), Yamuna (55), Vedika (10), Yakshita (22), Samad (38), Muttamma (37), Chandravati (43), Thirumaleshwara (49), Soni H P (21), Chidananda (42), Nayana Vitobarav (25), Subramani (51), Kaveramma (35), Abhilash (21), Jayanth (17), and Karan (37).
They have been admitted to private and government hospitals in Sullia. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
A case has been registered at Sullia police station.
