Mangaluru, June 24: A 30-year-old youth from Kodikal, Mangaluru, died by suicide, with the incident coming to light on Tuesday, June 24.

The deceased has been identified as Nikhil Poojary (30), a resident of Kodikal.

According to sources, on the morning of June 23 (Monday), Nikhil had breakfast at home and went into his room. As he had the habit of taking naps in the afternoon, family members did not find his absence unusual and did not disturb him.

However, when he did not come out even by evening, his family grew concerned. Despite knocking on the door and calling out to him, there was no response. Around 8:15 pm, when they peeked through the door, they were shocked to discover that he had taken his own life.

Preliminary investigation suggests that financial distress may have driven Nikhil to suicide. It is alleged that he had borrowed money through various mobile loan apps and was unable to repay the debt.

A case has been registered at Urwa police station, and further investigation is underway.
