Chennai, Jun 24: DMK MP A Raja sparked a political row after he called Union Home Minister Amit Shah a "fool" during a recent speech in Madurai, drawing a sharp backlash from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which hit back by calling Raja an ‘idiot’.
Reacting to Amit Shah's statement that the BJP would form a government in Tamil Nadu in 2026, A Raja said Shah had only managed to defeat "lone leaders" like Arvind Kejriwal, but Chief Minister MK Stalin was not alone.

“Amit Shah said he captured Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, and now Tamil Nadu is next. Fool, fool. Kejriwal was a lone man in Delhi. Stalin is backed by the legacy of Periyar, Anna, and Karunanidhi,” Raja stated.
He also accused the BJP of being rattled by the Dravidian ideology. “You fear this philosophy because you want One Language, One Nation, One Religion. But how can everything be one?” he questioned.
In response, BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy condemned Raja's remarks, calling them disrespectful. “Only a foolish person can call the Union Home Minister a fool. A Raja is behaving like an idiot,” he said.
Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Madurai, had earlier asserted that the BJP-AIADMK alliance would win in Tamil Nadu in the 2026 assembly polls. He said the people of the state would be the ones to bring down the DMK.
