Jerusalem, June 24: Israel has declared the successful conclusion of its 12-day military campaign against Iran, known as Operation Rising Lion, claiming that it has achieved all key strategic objectives and significantly weakened Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities.
Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu chaired a late-night Security Cabinet meeting on Monday, joined by top defence and intelligence officials, where the final operational assessment was shared. A statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office said Israel had “neutralized an immediate dual existential threat—both nuclear and ballistic missile-related.”

Israeli officials asserted that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had gained full air superiority over Tehran, severely damaged Iran’s military command structure, and destroyed dozens of critical government and strategic targets. Among those eliminated were hundreds of operatives from Iran’s Basij paramilitary forces and a senior nuclear scientist, officials said.
“In the past 24 hours alone, IDF strikes dismantled key installations in central Tehran, inflicting a historic setback to Iran’s strategic depth,” the statement read.
Coordination with Washington
Israel also acknowledged the support extended by the United States during the operation. The Prime Minister’s Office credited former U.S. President Donald Trump for his diplomatic role and operational backing in curbing what it described as Iran’s escalating nuclear ambitions.
“In coordination with President Trump, and given the mission’s success, Israel has agreed to a mutual ceasefire,” the statement confirmed.
While welcoming the de-escalation, Israeli officials warned that any violation of the ceasefire by Iran would result in swift and decisive retaliation. Citizens have been urged to continue following Home Front Command safety protocols until the ceasefire is fully implemented and verified.
The government also extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. “Their sacrifice will not be forgotten,” the statement added.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to address the nation on Tuesday evening, where he is likely to outline the broader strategic impact of Operation Rising Lion and the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
