US warns of terror threat after Iran strikes, cites risk of cyberattacks

Daijiworld Media Network – Washington

Washington, Jun 23: The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a nationwide alert, warning of a ‘heightened threat environment’ following President Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Officials said Iran could retaliate with cyberattacks and inspire violence through religious decrees. “Pro-Iranian hacktivists may launch low-level cyberattacks, with state-backed actors possibly escalating efforts,” the DHS stated.

The agency also flagged potential threats to US officials and a rise in antisemitic incidents. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the alert was a precaution to keep the public informed amid growing tensions.

The warning follows “Operation Midnight Hammer,” in which US forces targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities using B-2 bombers and bunker-buster bombs.

Iran has condemned the attacks and vowed revenge, raising concerns of further escalation.
