Hyderabad, Jun 22: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has sharply criticised the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a clear violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and even the US Constitution.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, the Hyderabad MP alleged that the United States is using the strikes to divert global attention from the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and warned that the move will not succeed in halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“These attacks violate international law, the UN Charter, the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty), and even the US Constitution, which prohibits waging war without Congressional approval,” Owaisi said.

He further slammed the double standards of the West, questioning the global silence on Israel’s nuclear arsenal, which he claimed includes 700–800 warheads despite not being a signatory to the NPT or allowing IAEA inspections.
Predicting a long-term impact, Owaisi said that Iran will likely enrich uranium up to 90% within the next 5 to 10 years, and could even withdraw from the NPT altogether.
“Iran cannot be stopped. It will leave the NPT,” he asserted.
He also warned that the US action may trigger a nuclear arms race in the region.
“Arab and Muslim countries will now want nuclear weapons to counter Israel’s blackmail and hegemony,” he said.
Citing US intelligence findings, Owaisi claimed that even American agencies have confirmed Iran does not possess nuclear weapons. He referenced statements by former U.S. lawmaker Tulsi Gabbard, who has previously highlighted intelligence conclusions about Iran’s capabilities.
Owaisi also expressed concern over the safety of over 60 lakh Indians residing in the Gulf region, many of whom are critical to India’s remittance economy and corporate investments in the area.
“Any regional war could have severe consequences for Indian citizens and businesses,” he cautioned.
In a sharp jibe at Pakistan, Owaisi mocked Islamabad’s stance, questioning its praise for former US President Donald Trump.
“Pakistan wants Trump to get the Nobel Peace Prize—for plunging the Middle East into war? Did General Asim Munir have lunch with the US President for this?” he asked sarcastically.
Owaisi’s remarks come amid rising geopolitical tensions following joint Israeli and US military operations in Iran, which have drawn strong reactions across the Middle East.
