Mangaluru, Jun 22: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School joyfully celebrated the feast day of its patron saint, St Aloysius Gonzaga, with a spirit of reverence and gratitude on June 21.
The celebration began with a Holy Eucharistic Mass, solemnly offered by Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ, and co-celebrated by our correspondent, Fr Johnson Pinto SJ, for the Catholic students. The spiritual ambiance set the tone for a meaningful and reflective day.

The cultural programme, organized by the students of class 7, commenced with a heartfelt prayer song. Nidhi Kiran, a student of class 7, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. This was followed by Ison Mathais and Riya Misquith, who spoke about the significance of the day and reflected on the virtues exhibited by St Aloysius Gonzaga.
Headmistress Jositta Noronha welcomed the chief guest, advocate Joshua Vernon D’Souza, an alumnus from the batch of 2009–10, with a sapling. He currently serves as the head of Legal at 360 Degree Spectrum Spaces India, a dynamic firm with established branches in Dubai and Kuwait.
In his inspiring address, advocate Joshua D’Souza fondly recalled his days at the school and expressed heartfelt gratitude to his parents and teachers for instilling in him strong values. He shared how the life and legacy of St Aloysius Gonzaga had deeply influenced him during his formative years. Urging students to follow the saint’s virtues of compassion, humility, and service, he left the students with a powerful message:
“Be kind, believe in yourself, and keep learning.”
As part of the celebration, certificates were distributed to the winners of various competitions held in honour of the feast. The programme was further elevated by a value-based skit, a melodious wishing song, and a vibrant group dance that brought colour and cheer to the occasion.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Sridevi and Sneha, who expressed sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the event. The programme concluded with the college anthem, followed by the distribution of sweets to all students.
The feast day served as a beautiful reminder of the timeless values upheld by St Aloysius Gonzaga, inspiring every student to lead a life of faith, kindness, and purpose.
