Udupi, June 22: “Marks are important, but they are not everything. Success follows those who show resilience, determination, and a positive outlook,” said Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media, addressing students at the Freshers' Day and International Yoga Day 2025 celebrations held at Silas PU College, Udupi, on June 21.
He urged students to focus on developing strong character and a clear sense of purpose, reminding them that academic achievements alone do not define one’s future. His motivational address set the tone for the day’s events, which aimed to welcome new students and promote the practice of yoga as a means of attaining physical and mental harmony.

The event began with a prayer, invoking divine blessings. Distinguished guests including Sharlet Maben, trustee of Crystal Education Trust, and Dr George, principal of Silas PU College, were present.
Principal Dr George welcomed the freshers and encouraged them to embrace every challenge and opportunity college life offers. He stressed the importance of building a strong foundation through meaningful campus engagement.
Students marked International Yoga Day by participating in a yoga demonstration, during which Devi spoke about the holistic benefits of yoga.
Sharlet Maben delivered an inspiring message, urging students to stay committed to their studies and strive for academic excellence.
The highlight of the programme was a stellar yoga performance by Tanushree Pithrody, a double Guinness World Record holder with seven World Book Records to her name. She was felicitated by the dignitaries for her extraordinary contributions to yoga.
The college auditorium was filled with enthusiastic freshers and faculty members who actively participated in the event. The day concluded with fun games and activities conducted by senior students, providing a warm and joyful welcome to the newcomers.
The event was coordinated by Prabha.
