Mangaluru, Jun 21: Loreto English Medium High School CBSE celebrated International Yoga Day with great zeal and positivity in the school auditorium, embracing this year’s global theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. The event highlighted the significance of yoga in maintaining harmony between mind, body, and soul.
Dr Maithri Vitla graced the occasion as the chief guest. The chief guest, along with the school manager Fr Francis Crasta, principal Fr Jason Vijay Monis, and vice principal Anitha Pais, inaugurated the programme by unveiling a symbolic picture of the seven chakras, signifying the path to spiritual and physical wellness.

The manager of the school, Fr Francis Crasta, extended warm wishes to all. He described yoga as India’s timeless gift to the world, comparing it to a science that enhances concentration and unlocks inner potential. He wished everyone good health, happiness, and calmness in mind, body, and soul.
Chief guest Dr Maithri Bhat shared her personal journey with yoga and spoke about the deep connection between breathing techniques and physical health, stating that breathing and yoga must go hand in hand. She highlighted how yoga supports stress relief and mental stability, and urged everyone to practice yoga daily for a healthier, more balanced life.
A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of students who excelled in Spell Bee competitions. Ten rank holders of the National and State Level Little Hands Olympiad and achievers of the State Level Wiz National Spell Bee 2024–25 who have qualified for the national level, were honored. Prina Jaisal D’Souza of grade 8 secured 24 rank, Slaina Noronha of grade 4 also secured 24 rank, and Leana Gia D’Souza of grade 3 achieved 22nd rank.
Principal Fr Jason Vijay Monis commended the students and staff for organizing a meaningful and inspiring programme.
Sakshi of grade 8 delivered the welcome address and Ashmitha proposed the vote of thanks, Prina Jaisal D’Souza of grade 8 anchored the programme.
As part of the celebration, students presented a vibrant cultural programme, including a song and a yoga themed dance performance.
The celebration also included yoga demonstration by students under the guidance of Padmanabha Mayya, the school’s Physical Education teacher, reinforcing the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life.
