Bengaluru, Jun 20: A 36-year-old woman, identified as Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai, was detained by police after she created a major disturbance aboard an Air India Express flight at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, minutes before flight IX2749 was scheduled to depart for Surat around 2:30 pm. Mohanbhai, a doctor and resident of Shivanahalli near Yelahanka, allegedly refused to follow crew instructions after she placed her bag in the first row of the aircraft and proceeded to her assigned seat at 20F.

When cabin crew requested her to move the bag to the overhead bin near her seat, she refused and demanded that the staff relocate the bag for her. Despite repeated instructions from both the crew and the pilot, she reportedly continued to argue and began shouting at fellow passengers who tried to calm the situation.
The matter escalated when she allegedly threatened to ‘crash the flight’, prompting the pilot to alert security. CISF personnel quickly intervened and removed her from the aircraft. Authorities said her behaviour posed a serious safety concern for other passengers.
Mohanbhai was booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal intimidation and public mischief, as well as under provisions of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act for endangering aircraft safety. An investigation is underway.
