New York, Jun 18: In a shocking incident during the Wednesday morning rush hour, two men were stabbed aboard a southbound 5 train near 42nd Street–Grand Central Station, one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs.

The stabbing occurred around 7:20 am, according to police sources cited by the New York Post. A 28-year-old and a 38-year-old man were stabbed in the stomach, with the older victim also sustaining a wound to the buttocks.

Initial reports indicate the violence was preceded by a verbal argument, but the exact sequence of events remains unclear. Police have not determined whether the victims knew the assailant.

The suspect fled the scene following the attack and remains at large. Law enforcement officials are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering eyewitness accounts to aid in the investigation.

Emergency responders treated the victims, who were then transported to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

This stabbing adds to growing concerns about safety on New York City’s subway system, which has witnessed several violent incidents in recent months.
