Mangaluru: ‘Aloysius Tech Fest 2025’ held

Mangaluru, Jun 14: Innovative thinking is the ability to create something new. To cultivate the spirit of innovation, a technical model competition was arranged for the students of St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute. In participation, students have prepared a number of innovative models by applying their knowledge and creativity under the guidance of their trainers. The models created by students will be exhibited to the public during Aloysius Tech-Fest 2024 on June 13 and 14. Inauguration of ‘Aloysius Tech Fest 2025’ in the premises of St Aloysius ITI was held on June 13.

The programme commenced with a prayer song sung by electronics mechanic students. A tribute was offered for the departed souls who lost their lives in the flight crash in Ahmedabad which was led by Preethi Sequeria, electronic mechanic 1st year student. Ragavendra, convener of the programme escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Roshan D’Souza, principal welcomed the gathering.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC - Karnataka legislative council was the chief guest for the programme. Shivalingaiah, National Award winning teacher – Govt ITI, Mysuru; Ashwith Shetty, senior HR manager – Fizza by Nexus, Mangaluru; Sunil Kumar M N, area service incharge – Jaquar & Company Pvt Ltd; Sashikanth, cluster head – Advaith Hyundai, Mangaluru; Vickyath S Shetty, chief operating officer – Akshaya Power Systems; Ravithesha, GM service – Mangalore Force; Vilas Rai, proprietor - Shri Krishna Computers; =Thilothama Anchan, proprietor – Thilakas Boutique New Code; Adarsh Dhananjaya K, project mentor - Innovation Hub; Hrithik P Kotian, Asst engineer - Swami Vivekananda Planetarium; Aravind Prabhu, proprietor – Amogh Garments; Prasana A, architect – Gajanana Machine Works; Naveen Rasquinha, president - alumni association, SAITI, Rohan Monteiro, entrepreneur & ex trainee - plumber; Johnson Antony D’Souza, proprietor – Cool Comfort & ex trainee - MRAC; Sathish Bhandary, proprietor V-Care Systems & ex trainee - EM were the guests of honour. Fr Melwyn Joseph Pinto SJ, rector – St Aloysius Institutions, Mangaluru was the president of the programme. Fr John D’Souza S J - director of St Aloysius ITI; Roshan D’Souza - principal; Alwyn Menezes - vice principal; Noel Lobo & Wilson N - training officers; Ragavendra, convener of the programme and Darshan S - president, student council were present.

The programme was inaugurated by unveiling the display board.

Judges for the competition were Dr Rolvin Sunil D’Silva - associate professor, mechanical engineering - St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor; Franco Aldrin J Menezes - assistant professor, electrical & electronics Engineering - St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor; Divakar - professor, SNM Polytechnic College, Sunkadakatte and Thilothama Anchan - proprietor, Thilakas Boutique New Code.

Ivan Dsouza, MLC - Karnataka legislative assembly was felicitated. The felicitation ceremony was led by Noel Lobo, training officer.

Prize distribution was held for the winners of Tech Fest 2025. The prize distribution was conducted by Alwyn Menezes, vice principal.

Shivalingaiah, National award-winning teacher – Govt ITI, Mysuru was felicitated. The felicitation ceremony was led by Noel Lobo, training officer.

Shivalingaiah spoke a few words saying, “In 2024, I was honoured by the president of India with the National Award, which is a recognition for all the junior training officers I worked with in this institution. All teaching and non-teaching staff and the students receiving training here are truly fortunate. Industrial training plays a fundamental role in shaping one’s life. I hope the students here will one day become owners and entrepreneurs like the guests on this stage.”

In his presidential address, rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Melwyn Joseph Pinto SJ said, “Though I oversee many institutions under the St Aloysius group, I have a special affection for this one. Through creating technical models, students can showcase their talents beyond academics. In today’s modern era, innovation in technology is essential. Many company owners are present here today, and in the future, our students should also become entrepreneurs and provide employment to others.”

1st prize - Package AC Trainer Kit, MRAC 2

2nd prize - Inverter type split AC, MRAC 1

3rd prize - Heavy Load Carrier, Welder

Electrical/electronic category

1st prize - IoT military surveillance with metal and harmful gas detection using Bluetooth module, electronics mechanic 1st year

2nd prize - Mini RPS, electronics mechanic 2nd year

3rd prize - LED cyclone arcade game, electronics mechanic 2nd year

Fashion design

1st prize - Baby frock, fashion design 1st year

2nd prize - Party wear western fit, fashion design 2nd year
