Beltangady, June 6: A wild elephant attack led to the complete destruction of an auto rickshaw near Boliyaru in Dharmasthala during the early hours of Friday.

The incident occurred when Dinesh, a resident of Boliyaru, was driving his auto rickshaw from his house towards Dharmasthala. As he approached the road near his home, a wild elephant suddenly appeared in front of him. Alarmed, Dinesh abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene to save himself.

The elephant then attacked the rickshaw, smashing it completely and pushing it into a nearby drain.

Following the incident, the elephants retreated into the forest. Dinesh, deeply shocked upon seeing the wrecked vehicle, collapsed and was later taken home for medical attention.

Forest department officials and local grama panchayat members visited the site and conducted an inspection.
