Bantwal, May 31: In a disturbing incident that came to light after a delay, a youth narrowly escaped a stone attack in Kolattamajalu, Badagabelluru village under Bantwal taluk. The incident, which reportedly occurred on December 29, 2024, has now led to a police case being registered at the Bantwal Rural police station.

As per the complaint filed by Shameer (31), a resident of Badagabelluru, the accused, identified as Tejaksha, allegedly attempted to assault Sinan Paizhi of Uppinangady. On the afternoon of the incident, Sinan had completed a religious ritual at a local residence in Kolattamajalu and was heading back to Uppinangady on his two-wheeler.

According to the complaint, the accused, despite knowing that a blow to the head with a stone could prove fatal, suddenly lifted a stone and threw it forcefully from behind at Sinan. Fortunately, Sinan managed to dodge the stone and escape unhurt.

The complainant and the victim had reportedly remained silent out of fear of the accused. However, on May 31, a formal complaint was lodged at Bantwal Rural police station.

Following the complaint, a case has been registered under Crime No. 58/2025, invoking Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police have taken up investigation and assured that further legal action will be initiated as per due procedure.
