Khandwa, May 27: In a horrific incident that has sent shockwaves across Madhya Pradesh, a tribal woman died following a brutal gangrape in Khandwa district. Police on Monday said that one of the accused, after the assault, allegedly inserted his hand into her body, causing her intestines to protrude. The woman succumbed to excessive bleeding on Saturday afternoon.
According to Khargone Range DIG Siddharth Bahuguna and Kalwa police station in-charge Jagdeesh Sindya, the gruesome crime occurred on Friday night under the jurisdiction of the Roshni police outpost, about 90 km from the district headquarters.

The two accused, identified as Hari (40) and Sunil (35), both from the Kurku tribal community like the victim, have been arrested. "There is no evidence of a wooden rod being used. She died due to severe bleeding," Sindya told PTI, adding that one of the accused attempted to push her intestines back inside after the act.
The investigation officer said efforts are underway to recover key evidence, including a blood-soaked bedroll from the crime scene. Police are seeking the accused's custody for further interrogation and evidence collection.
The woman’s uterus was found to be unharmed, while her intestines were severely damaged, Sindya said, citing preliminary medical observations. The initial post-mortem report is awaited.
The accused have been charged under sections 66 (causing death), 70(1) (gangrape), and 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stringent action and justice for victims of gender-based violence in tribal and rural areas.
