Bengaluru, May 24: In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across the city, a 44-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after her husband allegedly poured toilet cleaner acid on her during a domestic altercation in north Bengaluru.

According to police reports, the horrific incident occurred on the night of May 19 at NMH Layout in Sidedahalli. The woman, a beautician by profession, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and is reported to be out of danger.

The altercation reportedly began around 9 pm when the accused allegedly asked his wife for money to purchase liquor. On her refusal, he began to harass her and eventually managed to procure alcohol.

Later, in an inebriated state, he returned home and started playing music loudly on his mobile phone. When the victim requested him to reduce the volume, an argument broke out between the couple.

In a shocking escalation, the man is said to have gone to the bathroom, picked up a bottle of toilet cleaning acid, and allegedly poured it over his wife's head and face.

Hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the scene and shifted the woman to the hospital. By then, the accused had fled.

"A case has been registered, and a manhunt is underway to trace the accused. Further investigation is in progress," police sources said.

The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, raising fresh concerns over rising cases of domestic violence and substance abuse.
