Mangaluru, May 22: The novel ‘Aanjel’, which has been called the first novel of Konkani, was written in Kannada script by renowned Konkani writer Joachim Santan Alvares in 1950. This novel attempts to capture the changing image of a society undergoing transformation of family life in the shadow of the world wars. The character, portrayal, and description of the subject matter in this novel by Joachim Santhan Alvares, a renowned novelist of that time and author of many novels, are of the highest standard.

This novel he wrote will be 75 years old this year. In this fond memory and on the novel, which is full of such high ideals and literary wealth, the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has decided to hold a study workshop on July 13 at 9.30 am at the Sandesh Auditorium in Nanthoor, Mangaluru.

In addition, the academy’s president, Joachim Stany Alvares, stated in a press release that this novel will be translated into Kannada, English and other languages by selected translators.
