Mumbai, May 22: In a strong and clear response to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks calling India’s military action against Pakistan a "small war" (chhutput yudh), Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule asserted that war, especially against terrorism, cannot be measured in scale.

Sule, who is presently leading a delegation abroad as part of India’s global outreach under Operation Sindoor, said, "A war is a war—whether big or small. This is not a conventional battle for political mileage, but a collective stand against terrorism. This is a time for unity, not division."

Emphasizing the need for a united front, Sule reminded all political parties of the consensus reached during the all-party meeting held after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 innocent lives. “We had mutually agreed not to politicise such a grave matter. The nation must stand together, as this is not a time to criticise one another,” she added.

Expressing immense pride in the efforts of the Indian Armed Forces, Sule praised Operation Sindoor, saying, “I don’t just give it 100 out of 100—I give it 1,000 out of 100. Our brave soldiers deserve the highest praise for their courage and precision.”

Reiterating her faith in the defence forces, the Baramati MP said, “Any matter concerning national security is extremely sensitive. Opposition parties must show restraint and responsibility. While it’s natural to question the government in a democracy, we must always keep the nation’s interest above all.”

As per the Ministry of Defence, in the early hours of May 7, India carried out precision strikes targeting nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The action came in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack and was aimed strictly at terror infrastructure, avoiding Pakistani military installations.

The official statement noted that the operations were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature,” reflecting India’s intent to act against terror without provoking a larger conflict.

Operation Sindoor, hailed as a strategic success, continues to garner support across party lines, reinforcing the message that when it comes to safeguarding India’s sovereignty, politics takes a backseat.
