Mumbai, May 16: The BCCI on Friday announced the India A squad for the upcoming red-ball tour of England, with Abhimanyu Easwaran set to lead the side. The team will play two four-day matches against the England Lions, followed by an intra-squad fixture with the senior Indian team.
The tour kicks off with the first match in Canterbury from May 30, and the second in Northampton from June 6. An intra-squad game will be held in Beckenham from June 13 to 16 as part of preparations for India’s five-Test series in England starting June 20.
The squad features a mix of Test hopefuls and IPL players whose teams missed the playoffs. Notable names include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ishan Kishan. Karun Nair returns after a long gap, while Ranji star Harsh Dubey gets his maiden call-up.
Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan will join for the second match, with Gill tipped as Rohit Sharma’s likely successor as Test captain.
