Kadaba: Four injured in mini bus–car collision; locals step in with timely help

Kadaba, May 13: In a road mishap that occurred near Gandibagilu in Koila village along the Subrahmanya-Uppinangady highway, four individuals travelling in a Maruti 800 car sustained injuries after a collision with a mini bus on Monday.

The injured have been identified as Padmanabha, Sudarshan, Chetan, and Satish, all residents of the Alankar region in Kadaba taluk. Among them, Padmanabha sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. The others are currently receiving care at a private hospital in Uppinangady.

According to reports, the mini bus was ferrying a group of pilgrims from Shivamogga, en route to Dharmasthala after visiting Subrahmanya Kshetra, when the accident occurred. Two passengers in the mini bus sustained minor injuries.

The accident site turned into a scene of urgency and humanity as local youths rushed in to rescue the injured. Locals Nisar, Suleman, and Bais displayed quick thinking and bravery by rescuing the occupants trapped inside the mangled car. In a commendable gesture, Nisar transported the injured to the hospital in his autorickshaw, ensuring timely medical attention.
Kadaba police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.

Locals have urged authorities to enhance safety measures and introduce speed checks along this busy stretch, which has witnessed several mishaps in recent times.
