Mother’s Day celebration at St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga

Mangaluru, May 12: St Joseph the Worker Church in Neermarga Parish joyfully celebrated Mother’s Day with a solemn Mass on Sunday, May 11. The Mother Mary Sthree Sangatan members beautifully carried out the liturgy during the Mass.

Celebration and programme

Following the Mass, the mothers of our said parish gathered at the Church Sambram Hall to honour the joy and significance of motherhood.

Esteemed guests included:

- Fr Paul Pinto, parish priest
- Sandeep Misquith, vice president of Parish Pastoral Council
- Sr Sujatha D'Sa, superior of Holy Cross Convent
- Usha Fernandes, secretary of PPC & president of Sthree Sangatan
- Reshma Pereira, secretary of Sthree Sangatan

The Sthree Sangatan members initiated the program with a heartfelt prayer hymn. Usha Fernandes welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the mothers who attended in large numbers, highlighting the unconditional love and selflessness of mothers.

Keynote address

Fr Paul Pinto remembered mothers who have gone to eternal rest and emphasized the sacrifices mothers make for their families. He appreciated the vital role mothers play in shaping a better society.

Cultural performances

The programme featured:

- Two songs (Dyey geeth and a mother-themed song)
- A dance performance by children
- Jyothi Rebello and Laveena Peres led these songs
- Pramila Rodrigues conducted the spot games
- Namitha Rebello captured the pictures
- Jenevew Rebello proposed the vote of thanks
- Reshma Pereira competently hosted the program
- Sunil Pereira M/s Maria Decorators beautifully decorated the backdrop
- Prizes were distributed to the winners of the spot games by the Parish Priest
- Tokens of appreciation were given to children who contributed to the music and dance performances by the vice president of PPC.

The event concluded with refreshments, and nearly 190 participants received handkerchiefs as a sweet reminder of the day. The celebration was a resounding success, filled with joy, gratitude, and appreciation for mothers.
