Bengaluru, May 12: Thirteen students from Karnataka, who were studying at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in Srinagar, have safely returned to New Delhi thanks to a coordinated effort by the Government of India.
The students, caught in a tense situation following Pakistan’s attack, were successfully evacuated from Jammu on the instructions of Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Officials acted promptly to ensure their safety and return.

"Pakistan has attacked India in an unjust manner, and an appropriate response is underway. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction, every measure has been taken to protect lives in the Valley, including evacuating students. I thank everyone who assisted in this operation," said H D Kumaraswamy.
The minister added that all the students have reached New Delhi and arrangements have been made to send them safely to Bengaluru.
The evacuation process began after the parents of Harshith, a student from Tagachagere village in Channapatna taluk, appealed to Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the state president of Yuva Janata Dal, for help in rescuing their son who was stranded in Jammu. Nikhil promptly brought the matter to the attention of Union Minister Kumaraswamy, who ensured their safe relocation.
On May 11, the students travelled under security from Srinagar to Jammu by bus, and then reached Delhi by train by Sunday afternoon.
"After reaching Delhi, the students are under the care of officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Steel. We will remain alert until they safely reach their homes," Kumaraswamy assured.
The students were welcomed at the railway station in Delhi by ministry officials. All of them are reported to be safe and are expected to arrive in Bengaluru by May 12 evening.
"Even during this challenging time for the nation, this mission was made possible by the clear guidance and bold decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I commend the efforts of the central government officials, security personnel, railway staff, and ministry representatives who helped bring these students home safely," Kumaraswamy stated in a post on social media.
The students have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Government of India, and Union Minister Kumaraswamy for their timely intervention.
