New Delhi, May 10: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, rumours have been circulating on social media suggesting that ATMs may shut down in the coming days. Public sector banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank, have dismissed these claims, confirming that all ATMs are fully operational.

These rumours are unfounded,” stated the banks, adding that ATM services are functioning normally and are well-stocked with cash. Digital services are also running smoothly, they assured.

Other banks such as Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, and Punjab & Sind Bank echoed the same message. Union Bank of India’s Managing Director and CEO, A. Manimekhalai, said, “We have instructed our staff in border states to remain alert and follow the guidelines issued by local State Level Bankers’ Committees.”

She confirmed that all banks have sufficient cash reserves and that ATM operations would continue without disruption. “All ATMs are functioning as usual. Do not believe in rumours. The bank is always at your service. Your money is safe with us,” Canara Bank posted.

India’s largest lender, SBI, also issued a statement on social platform X, saying, “All our ATMs, CDMs/ADWMs, and digital services are fully functional and available to the public. We urge our customers not to fall for any false information.”
