Saudi Arabia steps in to ease India-Pakistan tensions, urges dialogue

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, May 10: Saudi Arabia has launched diplomatic efforts to reduce rising tensions between India and Pakistan, calling for an end to military confrontations and a return to peaceful dialogue.

In a statement released early Saturday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, visited both countries on May 8 and 9 under directives from the Saudi leadership. The visit is part of Riyadh’s broader push to mediate and encourage a diplomatic resolution to ongoing disputes between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The intervention comes at a critical moment, with Pakistan alleging that three of its airbases were struck by Indian missiles and drones in the early hours of Saturday — a claim that has further escalated regional tensions.

Saudi Arabia reiterated its commitment to promoting peace and stability in South Asia and called on both sides to resolve differences through diplomatic channels.
