New Delhi, May 9: In light of the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, several prominent Indian sports personalities have come forward to express their unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, former cricketer Virender Sehwag, and current cricket star Shikhar Dhawan have all shown solidarity with the country's military operations against terror infrastructure in Pakistan.

Chopra, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, shared his pride for the Indian forces on social media, writing, “We are proud of our Brave Indian Armed Forces who are fighting for our nation against Terrorism. Let’s do our part and make sure to follow guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety during this time.” His message came amid increasing concerns about the security situation, particularly after the cancellation of an IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala due to air raid alerts in nearby areas.

Sehwag, known for his bold opinions, directly blamed Pakistan for escalating the conflict. “War has been chosen by Pakistan when they had an opportunity to keep quiet. They have escalated to save its terrorist assets, speaks so much about them. Our forces will reply in the most appropriate manner, a manner Pakistan will never forget,” Sehwag tweeted.

Dhawan, another prominent cricketer, paid tribute to the bravery of the Indian forces. He tweeted, “Respect to our brave hearts for protecting our borders with such strength and stopping the drone attack on Jammu. India stands strong. Jai Hind.”

The current tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations have led to significant military activity. On Wednesday, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The strikes, which targeted the strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, were in retaliation for the brutal attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, mostly tourists. In response, Pakistan launched attacks on 15 Indian cities, prompting further military actions from India.

The growing conflict has raised fears about the future of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), with the safety of players, officials, and spectators becoming a top priority amidst these security concerns.
