New Delhi, May 7: Prominent leaders from the Congress party have extended wholehearted support to the Indian Armed Forces following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, reacting to early reports, noted, “We’ve heard the Army will brief at 10 a.m. We’ll wait for more information on targets, objectives, and achievements.” He acknowledged preliminary accounts indicating that 8–9 terror camps, including those associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), had been struck in a precision operation, reportedly using missile technology.

“If these reports are confirmed, it’s a commendable move. I extend my congratulations to the Army, Navy, and all defence personnel involved,” Dikshit said.

Drawing a parallel with the Balakot airstrike of 2019, he emphasised the non-civilian nature of the targets, stating that terrorist hideouts, training camps, and operational hubs were specifically chosen, thereby avoiding any civilian harm. “The operation appears strategically sound and morally just,” he remarked.

Echoing these sentiments, Ajay Rai, Congress's Uttar Pradesh State President, stated, “We consistently demanded swift and strong action against terrorism. Our Armed Forces have delivered exactly that.”

Rai further added, “The Rafale jets, brought in for national defence, were meant for operations like this — eliminating terrorists and holding their sponsors accountable. We salute the bravery and resolve of our forces.”

He recalled the grief of victims’ families from the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives, asserting that India’s response had restored a sense of justice.

Government sources confirmed that all nine intended targets were successfully neutralised, including infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen — all of which are officially designated as terrorist organisations by India, the United States, and the United Nations.

In a statement, the government reiterated that no civilian or military installations in Pakistan were impacted, underlining India’s measured and non-escalatory approach, focused solely on counter-terror objectives.
