Bahrain, May 6: Kannada Sangha Bahrain hosted a memorable and soul-stirring evening of cultural expression with the 'Nrithya Namana Aasthikaarpana 2025', a dance competition and tribute to the late Vidushi Aasthika Sunil Shetty, held at the Kannada Bhavana Auditorium. The event was a heartfelt homage to a luminary in the world of classical dance and served as a vibrant celebration of art, heritage, and community.
The evening featured electrifying performances across solo classical, semi-classical group, and cinematic group categories, with enthusiastic participation from young dancers who captivated the audience with their passion and talent.





Presiding over the event were eminent personalities and distinguished judges: Karnataka Kalashri Vidushi Nayana V Rai Kudkadi, Jayashankar, Suvasini Srinivasa, and Dr Sridevi S Rajan, who brought depth and credibility to the competition with their invaluable insights and encouragement to the participants.
The event was a proud moment for Kannada Sangha Bahrain under the leadership of president Amarnath Rai, whose tenure has seen several key developments. A highlight of the evening was the inauguration of the permanent LED screen at the auditorium, enhancing future performances and presentations. The event was further honoured by the presence of former presidents and special guests, marking a truly momentous occasion in the Sangha’s cultural calendar.
Dynamic comperes Deepak Rao Pejavara and Suraksha Jeevith Poonja kept the event engaging, while general secretary Ramprasad Ammenadka warmly welcomed the dignitaries and helped coordinate the felicitation of notable contributors including Sunil Shetty, Sakshar Shetty, the respected judges, and event coordinators.
A special tribute video was played during the event, touching hearts with its moving portrayal of Vidushi Aasthika Shetty’s life and enduring legacy in the dance community.
Adding a joyful note, a Birthday Bash for young members of the Sangha brought cheer and smiles, delighting the youngest attendees.
The grand finale saw the prize distribution ceremony energetically hosted by sports secretary John Deepak, followed by a community dinner that offered guests an opportunity to connect and reflect on the evening’s artistic journey.
The event concluded on a note of deep appreciation with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by cultural secretary Jagadeesha Jeppu, acknowledging the efforts of every individual who contributed to the success of the programme.
