Karkala, May 3: The release of a textbook for the innovative initiative titled ‘Grooming classes’ organised by Christ School and inauguration of kitchen lab was held at the institution's auditorium.
Former MP of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency and former minister Jayaprakash Hedge graced the occasion as the chief guest and released the grooming textbook.
Former minister Jayaprakash Hedge, addressing the gathering said, “Children must love their mother tongue. Along with the native language, they should also learn other languages to understand the world better. Reading newspaper columns and books makes one knowledgeable and helps in developing a strong personality. When children are instilled with the right values, it leads to a peaceful society and schools are where these values should be imparted.




Fr Clement Mascarenhas, the parish priest of Christ Church, Karkala, inaugurated the kitchen lab. Offering his blessings, he said, “We must love others the way we love ourselves, only then life becomes joyful. The initiative taken by the Christ King educational institution to provide children with good values is commendable.”
Vivekananda Shenoy, businessmen, speaking on the occasion said, “taking care of parents in their old age is a noble act. Children should not only respect but also care for their parents with love and dignity in their later years, Christ King is nurturing such values through its education.”
Dr Peter Fernandes, member of the Christ King Education Trust, in his presidential note said, “every child is a reflection of God. It’s not enough for children to just be educated, they must be wise and conscious. Then the country can prosper. Our institution is committed to providing a secular, caste-free and equal education for all.”
Teacher Vijetha welcomed the gathering. Ahsa Jyothi delivered the vote of thanks. Kannada Lecturer Umesh Bellippadi compered the event.
The event was attended by vice president of Karkala Taluk Scouts and guides Savithri Manohar, former president of Jain Milan and retired English lecturer Karkala Malathi Vasanthraj, president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Humaira, principal of the primary school Rudolph Kishore Lobo, in-charge principal of high school Josna Snehalatha and president of parent-teacher association Prakash Kundar.
