Maharashtra Day celebrated with patriotic fervour at Shivaji Park

Mumbai, May 1: The 66th Maharashtra State Foundation Day was marked with grandeur and patriotic fervour as Governor C P Radhakrishnan unfurled the national tricolour at the official state function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park in Mumbai on Thursday, May 1.

Governor Radhakrishnan inspected the ceremonial parade and accepted the salute from marching contingents representing various wings of the armed forces, police, fire services, and civic departments.

Addressing the citizens on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the governor highlighted the state's contributions and achievements. His message in Marathi was read out by additional chief secretary (Protocol) Manisha Mhaiskar.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Legislative Council chairman Prof Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, minister for medical education Hasan Mushrif, State Women’s Commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar, chief secretary Sujata Saunik, DGP Rashmi Shukla, municipal commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, police commissioner Deven Bharti, and diplomats from various countries were among the dignitaries present.

The ceremonial parade featured impressive participation from the State Reserve Police Force, Greater Mumbai Armed Police, City Riot Control Squad, Armed Women Police, Railway Police, Traffic Police, Mumbai Fire Brigade, Greater Mumbai Municipal Security Force, and Thane District Security Guards. Flag-bearing colour parties and vibrant performances by the Brass Band and Pipe Band added to the ceremonial splendour.

The state came together in a show of pride, unity, and respect for Maharashtra's rich legacy and progressive spirit on its Foundation Day.
