Mangaluru, Apr 30: The school of education (BEd), a department of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) successfully organized an inter-collegiate cultural festival under the banner EDUNOVA 2025, with an aim to promote teacher education and inspire youth to consider careers in teaching profession.
The chief guest, Dr Shrividya Muralidhar, Bharatanatyam artiste, Yeyyadi, Mangaluru, officially inaugurated the festival by unveiling the EDUNOVA 2025 plaque, symbolically.

In the inaugural address, Dr Shrividya urged the participants to cultivate confidence, tolerance, hope, and courage as essential life skills. “Life is not always about happiness and victory. Setbacks and rejections are unpredictable, yet inevitable. What defines us is how we rise above them with strength and positivity,” she said.
Fr Dr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ, pro vice chancellor and the president of the programme, highlighted the crucial role of talent in personal development. He encouraged participants to recognize and nurture their strengths for holistic growth, emphasizing that true success in life is rooted in peace. Speaking on the importance of personal responsibility for youth, he invited participants to make thoughtful choices, embrace truth, and develop critical thinking skills to make the right decisions in life.
The programme began with an invocation, followed by a welcome dance. Dr Farita Viegas, dean of the school of education, delivered the welcome address. Sandhya, assistant dean and convenor of EduNova 2025, presented an overview of the significance of the competitions.
The day-long celebration included twelve cultural competitions, namely: Frolicoc (ice breaker), Janapadagana Lahari (folk singing), Rangtarang (rangoli), Star of EduNova, Mukha Varnika (face painting), Teachathon (pick & teach), Spin & Stream (video juggling), Giggles Galore (edu comedy), Frame by Frame (documentary), Pixel Play (photography), Glamy Andaaz (fashion show) and Floor Affair (theme dance).
The winners were awarded prizes during the valedictory function held in the evening. Fr Edward Rodrigues SJ, former director of the BEd programme, was the chief guest. Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, presided over the function. Vivekananda College, Puttur, was awarded the champion, while Sri Devi College, Ballalbagh, Mangaluru, secured the runner-up position.
The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various colleges in the district, who celebrated the spirit of creativity, collaboration, and commitment.
