Mangaluru: Namaz in middle of road disrupts traffic – Suo moto case registered

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, May 28: A video of unidentified individuals offering Namaz on a public road in front of a mosque at Kankanady on May 24 has gone viral on social media. The act had caused significant traffic disruption for sometime. Several vehicles were forced to turn back and take alternative routes, causing inconvenience to the public. Many members of the public and pro-Hindu organizations have strongly opposed this act. In response, the police have registered a case.

In a press release, the police stated that an investigation is underway. "A Suo Moto case has been registered against unidentified individuals for obstructing the movement of people and traffic. The case, registered under crime No. 85/2024, includes sections 341, 283, 143, and IPC section 149 at Mangaluru East police station," the press release stated.

Some uneducated youths are instigating the socieity for unrest. There is no law and order for anyone to perform prayer on roads causing public nuisance. Such goons should be caught immediately and thadipaar to India-China borders.

Abdul, Mangalore, Stopping traffic with this act is crime. they should give strict punishment if they want to pray then let them pray in their premises not on road. We are all tolerating this nonsense and not taking any action.

What about Dasara procession ? What about Mosaru Kudike held on Attavara road ? If few Muslims pray on road for 5 minutes it's a disturbance . What a double standard. That too namaz was offered on interior road not on a main road .

Dear Abdul. Dasara procession, we take prior permission from officials and this is communicated to public in advance. We don't directly go to the roads and block it. So, understand the difference here!!

Use common sense before commenting. Processions are taken on permission. If other religion people start praying and Blickling the road every where what will happen. This is not acceptable in India. We are not that much tolerant. Look for some alternative other than blocking road.

If there was a prior permission to block road and pray, no one will object. Any religion subject to blocking road without taking proper permission from DC is illegal.

The Muslim population has a high birth rate and as Friday prayers are obligatory and must be done in a Mosque. But there is no place inside the mosque, so they pray on the street. The only solution is for the Muslim community to build more mosques to accommodate their faithful inside their premises. This has been happening all over the world and with the passage of time things will only get worse. There is a video of a Cab driver offering Namaz on the trunk of his car in the heart of New York City.

This kind of behaviour is wrong whether it is done by a Hindu or a Christian or Muslim. The community leaders should take care that such things don't recurr. There is no point in justifying these activities in any event.

It looks like no Police was there ?No rules and regulations in city?MCC should strictly act on this .No such activity on public roads. If Namaz was made in middle of road could have also brought food for midday and make a dinner or lunch Party. When onc edone then will follow the next. One should practice their religious rites where it is allowed and certain places.Certainly not of Public roads. Why Police only registered the case ,not acted?Good that noone was hurt ,and in case it happens need not cry.

This is happening in UK and perhaps in Germany too. Police there had been very passive and cautious in dealing with such sensitive issues for reasons better known to them. So it has embolden them to carry out in Asian countries, except in gulf countries like UAE and Kuwait where they are not allowed to spill out of the mosque compounds.

If the space in the mosque is not sufficient to namaz, they should build some floors above mosques to namaz. At any cost Namaz shouldn’t be allowed on roads. These extra floors can be used for parking and even hawkers can use these vacant floors to sell vegetables and groceries.

In the middle of the road, stopping to pray and blocking traffic is not right. However, every year in Car Street, they block the road in front of the temple, causing so much trouble for passersby, and no one says anything about it.
