Bengaluru, May 23: Responding to criticism over his reported comment that there is no candidate for the prime minister's post from Karnataka, and the presumption that it was directed against AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, who might be considered for the top post if the INDIA bloc wins the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that he never said there was no candidate for the prime ministership from Karnataka.

“There are several capable persons to occupy the PM’s post from the State,” he said while speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The Chief Minister explained that he had merely said that he was not a candidate for prime ministership from the State and never aspired for the post in response to a question from a reporter recently about his becoming the prime minister.

Siddaramaiah said a section of the media has misquoted his statement and even implied that he was speaking indirectly against Kharge being considered for the top post.

“There are several able and capable persons to don the mantle of prime minister from Karnataka,” he added.

    In Karnataka or INDI alliance? I doubt, there is no one with a nation wide appeal. Most of the leaders in Congress do not have standing in their own home constituencies and have to fight elsewhere in a safe muslim constituencies to keep their career alive. How can such 'leaders' run a nation?

    But he is under the impression that country without his leadership would be deemed. No pne can replace him nor no leader ever born to bring India in the No 1 position among World countries! 10 years have gone by and only the noise replaced with achievements. 3😫

What Sidhu says is...there are many capable leaders in India lot capable than some think! Not sure if they can fake well. And non biological.....he he..!

    In BJP, no there are no other capable leaders, except for PM Modi. Anyone who is even slightly capable, they are already moved to margdharshak prematurely. In other parties, yes there are many many highly qualified, sincere and capable leaders, who can get the country back from sinking, from past 10yrs disasters.

    Exactly. PM Modi mocked us Indians in 2014 asking 'if there is NOT ONE able Indian apart from a foreigner' to become a PM. Well now Sir, you have shown us what a tea seller can do to the nation. You sold the nation's assets like you sold tea. Step down now, we Indians want an educated man to lead us, not a man who once said he never went school but displayed BA, MA certificates as his eligibility qualification for the PM's post.

    Correct, I fully agree with him. In Karnataka there are well educated and literate leaders are fit for PM post. Most of leaders are from political backgrounds.
