Daijiworld Media Network – Belthangady (EP)

Beltangady, May 22: MLA Harish Poonja surrendered before the Beltangady police at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, May 22 and was interrogated at the station in connection with two cases registered against him. The had police initially went to Poonja's residence to bring him in for questioning and amid high drama by numerous BJP party workers protesting the arrest move, accused Harish Poonja had gone missing from home.

Meanwhile Dakshina Kannada MP Naleen Kumar Kateel, who was present at the scene, had intervened and personally requested the police to withdraw their forces from Poonja's house, assuring them that he would personally ensure Poonja's presence at the station. The police had left the scene after issuing notices to Poonja to appear in the station within the next three days for questioning.

As per his assurance, MP Kateel sent MLA Poonja to the police station, where he was interrogated regarding the cases.

The situation unfolded after Beltangady police, including the DySP and circle inspector, accompanied by KSRP personnel, arrived at Poonja's residence as part of their efforts to address the legal matters involving the MLA. This sparked significant controversy and tension in the area.

Poonja was interrogated under Case 58/2024, IPC sections 143, 147, 341, 504, 506 and 149 and later released on station bail.

From the behaviour of BJP heads and MP/MLA and ministers it is clearly known that the party itself closely associates with RSS in principle & in their activities throughout the country. Change must come. Earlier the better.

Poonja's friend store explosives illegally. He committed same mistake as that of Sanjay Dutt. Those who protesting the arrest of this criminal are nothing but Terrorists. If these explosive have been found in the house of minority person, BJP would have called him terrorist already and would have linked them to Osama Bin Laden and also to Congress. But now they are silent and trying to protect the criminal and rowdy sheeter. How much Hafta Pooja was getting from this illegal stone mining business?

Law makers have become law breaker and setting a very bad precedent... All political parties have to condemn such acts ..of such MLA's -- . Shabby gutter culture and. Poonja himself Not. Following. What he preaches ...meaning he wants police to follow all procedures! By and large Police are ever vigilant and Karnataka Police competent -- even if there is shortcoming the MLA under question cannot exhibit abusive behavior -- this will set a bad precedent in day-to-day life for public -- it will lead to utter chaos if allowed-- a demoralized Police is last that is wanted-- Police forms the administration wing of the 4 pillars--in a democracy-- The MAHATMA protested peacefully and suffered many a times but did not give up hope and India was freed from the British -- --nonviolence--- We do not want Godse culture --of quick murderous solutions-- which possibly being followed by the said MLA-- not surprising however---
