Kasargod, Apr 9: Naxalite Suresh, also known as Pradeep and hailing from Angadi village in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, has made a statement claiming that he surrendered to the Kannur police.

Suresh sustained injuries while traversing the Kerala-Karnataka border with his naxalite group, after being attacked by an elephant.

He was discovered severely injured in the vicinity of Kanjirakolli Chittari colony on February 16 and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Kannur. During police interrogation, it was revealed that he is a highly sought-after naxalite. He received medical treatment under police custody.

Suresh has now recuperated and has given a statement to the media. He stated, “I have been involved in the naxal movement for 23 years. I have been considering surrendering for quite some time, but the circumstances were not favourable. As a Maoist, I have not been able to achieve anything. We have failed to instigate any changes in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.”

Suresh has over 26 cases registered against him in Karnataka, and the government has announced a reward of Rs. 5 lakh for his capture.
