Brahmavar, Apr 1: An electric scooter erupted in flames at the Akashvani junction in Brahmavar on Monday morning, April 1.

The cause of the incident remains unknown. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.

Local residents attempted to extinguish the flames with water but were unsuccessful.

Some speculate that the rising heat waves in the atmosphere may be contributing to vehicle malfunctions and incidents like this, according to a tourist vehicle owner.

A unique circuit called as BMS( Battery Mgmt System) is responsible for proper upkeep of electric vehicle batteries which does proper management of all aspects of a battery like charging, discharging overheating and other important issues. The other aspect is the battery itself which we commonly assume that a good one is used in our vehicle. Many people don't look into these issues when they purchase a vehicle, but it should be borne in mind that an electrick vehicle while otherwise a very good decision, must be borne in mind that it's battery is a powerful time bomb which could not only catch fire, but also blow up spectacularly when you least expect it. LiIon Batt are notorious and least forgiving in this aspect IF THE BATTERY ISNOT MANAGED PROPERLY. Simple ways of avoiding the above is to clarify if there is a GOOD BATT& that there is a good cooling system that automatically cools the Batt when it is driven in extreme conditions like fast acceleration, continuous driving in fast mode (usually doubles) , too many start and stops etc. Listen and see/hear the cooling fan. If it's working, then fine. Another point is that it will go into protection mode like temporary shutdown. These are the hall marks of a good electrick vehicle. Make sure if these features are incorporated in your vehicle before purchasing. Because it is quite possible that it is missing in order to cover costs. Finally you must adapt to certain anamolies of an EV in order to get the max out of them with safety compared to an IC vehicle that we are so used to.

If any one of you is planning to buy electric scooters then note this , the biggest problem with Lithium Ion batteries used in these EVs is the temperature management of the cells and the batteries. There is a specific circuit used inside the battery to control the temperature called the BMS (Battery Management System) but there are a number of armature companies budding into this field of EV knowing very little on BMS and battery technology and have no research data on the temperature management of the battery. They simply buy it out from a third party vendor and sell it to you as a whole product doing very little study on the overall scenario of exposure to high temperature. Mature brands on the other hand have good money for the R&D activities and make sure that the BMS shuts the battery down before the explosive condition is reached. So be careful when you select any product with lithium ion batteries especially when it is exposed to high ambient temperature.... Sodium Ion technology based batteries are also around the corner and will soon replace Lithium ion to some extent but the risk of fire is significantly lower though not zero.

When it comes to EV's people should opt for only reputed brands. Reputed manufacturers ensure that the the vehicles and their components are properly tested before launch. They also provide many safety features to protect the battery from overcharging , overheating and over discharging. People should keep in mind that EV's are not battery operated toys which can be bought from any shop just like that. In fact, EV;s are much safer that traditional internal combustion engines. A study carried out by American Insurance companies has found that out of every 1 lakh electric cars manufactured only 25 vehicles are likely to catch fire, whereas this number is 1500 per 1 lakh for petrol cars and 3500 per 1 lakh for Hybrid cars.

If I am not mistaken some 150 (TDH) cos have entered the EV fray to gain a piece of the pie; one can imagine the quality of some of these manufacturers who are totally new to this business... rest apply your logic and think..... no wonder🤔 anything is possible in third world... .. with the heat wave spreading across the country..... chances of such spontaneous fires becomes more.... pathetic...

I think the owners of Electric Scooters are charging at home only by any unauthorized charger. Or because of weather is very hot, that may be that reason.
