The deceased has been identified as Manjunatha (35), son of Gulabi, a resident of Kajke Aramane Jeddu. Vishwanatha (30), the younger brother of the deceased, is the accused and is currently in police custody.

Manjunatha and Vishwanatha worked as daily wage labourers and lived in the same house with their mother. They frequently engaged in fights after consuming alcohol.
