Maharashtra: Yogesh Ashokrao Patil - A double success story in UPSC

Daijiworld Media Network – Maharashtra (MS)

Maharashtra, Mar 31: Achieving success in the UPSC exams once is a significant milestone, but Yogesh Ashokrao Patil has accomplished this feat twice, earning himself the prestigious title of an IAS officer.

Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, Yogesh has been diligent and focused since his early years. He achieved outstanding academic results, scoring 96.7% in 10th grade and 94.8% in 12th grade. After graduating in mechanical engineering from Pune University in 2017, Yogesh set his sights on becoming an IAS officer.

Inspired by the transformative work of Dr Shrikar Pardeshi, an IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, who brought about significant changes in Yogesh's native village, he was motivated to pursue the same path.

Yogesh's determination paid off when he cleared the UPSC exam on his first attempt in 2018, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 231. However, this rank was insufficient for an IAS position, and he was offered a role in the IPS. Undeterred, Yogesh attempted the exam again in 2019, achieving an impressive AIR of 63 and fulfilling his dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Dispelling the notion that English medium schooling is a prerequisite for UPSC success, Yogesh emphasizes that he was educated in Marathi medium throughout. He believes that unwavering commitment to the goal of becoming an IAS officer is essential for success in the exam.

Currently serving as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with the Home and Hill Affairs Department of the Government of West Bengal, Yogesh's journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring civil servants across the nation.
