Mumbai, Mar 29: Akasa Air inaugurated its international operations with flights from Mumbai to Doha, the capital of Qatar. The airline will operate four non-stop flights weekly between the two cities, marking a significant milestone in enhancing trade and tourism ties between India and Qatar and improving connectivity.

The maiden flight departed from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Doha at 5:54 PM IST and landed at Hamad International Airport. To commemorate the occasion, a special boarding pass was issued to the first passenger, and a ceremonial ribbon cutting was conducted by the all-female crew.

In addition to Doha, Akasa Air has been granted traffic rights for three other international destinations: Riyadh, Kuwait, and Jeddah. The airline plans to expand its international presence in the coming months.

Passengers traveling to Doha from Delhi, Kochi, Lucknow, Goa, Varanasi, and Ahmedabad can also avail connecting flight options via Mumbai.

Akasa Air has introduced special holiday packages for travelers interested in visiting Doha, offering budget-friendly deals through Akasa Holidays.

Despite ongoing concerns about the production schedule of Boeing 737 MAX jets, Akasa Air remains confident about receiving its aircraft on time. In January, the airline announced an order for 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets equipped with CFM fuel-efficient and LEAP-1B engines, aiming to enhance its global reach.
