Udupi, Feb 23: "The second PUC examination to run from March 1 to 22 will see 16,060 students, comprising 15,413 new candidates, 433 private students, and 214 re-takers," revealed deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari during the preliminary preparation meeting at the district commissioner’s office.
She further said, “The second PU exams will be conducted from March 1 to 22 from 10.15 am to 1.30 pm in 28 examination centers of the district. A total of 16,060 students, including 15,413 new ones, 433 private ones and 214 re-takers, will write the exam. As many as 7745 students in the science department, 6564 students in commerce department and 1054 students in arts department will appear for the exam.
“Students should make necessary preparations in the exam classrooms to create a conducive environment to write the exam easily. The question paper distribution team, the appointment of examination center observers, the question paper guardian team, the district route officer team, the traffic vigilance team of examination invigilators and other teams will already be appointed.
“KSRTC and the officials of the transport department should arrange to facilitate the students to attend the examination centers within the stipulated time.
“The confidential material for the examination centers should be obtained from the district treasury and distributed to the examination centers on time. While unwrapping the question paper bundles and receiving, and bundling the answer sheets should be done under CCTV observation.
“Legal action will be taken against those who are found guilty of examination irregularities such as question paper leakage, buying and selling thereof, collaborating with students and individuals to leak question paper through mobile phone or electronic devices, spreading rumours about question paper, inciting and encouraging illegality. No one can take a mobile phone to the examination center,” she said.
Dr K Vidyakumari also said that legal action will be taken against those who distribute old question papers or handwritten questions on social media, spread rumours, and create confusion among students, parents and the general public.
The DC also gave instructions to photocopy shops around the examination center for 200 mts. She said the area would be declared a restricted area.
Additional deputy commissioner Mamata Devi GS, ASP Siddalingappa, assistant commissioner Rashmi S, deputy director of PU education department Maruti, DDPI Ganapathy K and district level implementing officers, tahsildars, principals of various colleges and others were present in the meeting.
