MP Nalin’s appeal to extend crucial trains to Mangaluru Central railway station faces rejection

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 2: Despite the construction of additional platforms at Mangaluru Central railway station, the Southern Railway authorities have turned down the demand for extending crucial trains from Mangaluru Junction railway station to Mangaluru Central.

Various passenger organizations and the public have been advocating for the extension of Mumbai CSMT-Mangaluru Junction Superfast, Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction tri-weekly express, Gomateshwara weekly express, and Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction express trains to Mangaluru Central. The construction of the fourth and fifth platforms at Mangaluru Central was undertaken to accommodate this demand. However, the Southern Railway has rejected the proposal, citing a shortage of platforms and vacant tracks.

Responding to an appeal by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Southern Railway manager R N Singh stated that the extension was not feasible due to the shortage of platforms and available tracks. Singh added, 'Gomateshwara Express and Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Express trains arrive at 4.40 pm at Mangaluru Junction. If extended to Mangaluru Central, it would create more pressure, leading to issues with arrivals, departures, crossings, and platform shortages. As for Vijayapura Express and CST Superfast trains, with only two hours and 55 minutes of halting time at Mangaluru Junction, it is not possible to extend them with such a short halting time.

Forget central instead improve the Kankanady station with good facelities like Kerala state. There not even a proper digital board, rest rooms, train information in the station.

We must know that trains originating in TN and Kerala have priority over the platforms at Central station. No one should be surprised if Palghat division introduces few more trains from Kerala to Mangalore terminating at Central station later on. The elusive platforms shall magically reappear.

If MP Kateel asked, it will be rejected. If rumors are to be believed, Kateel has been eloquent in Delhi that he is more important than party in his private parlance. So, clearly, he is also planning for a Kateel clan to be imposed on DK just like Moily has plans for his constituency. This is the problem of colonial mindset that Congress proliferated for many years and Khader from Ullal is the living example. Our mindset that politics always has to be family business has to go. I hope BJP will do something with aspirations of Yeddy, Ishwarappa etc. We have since moved on. You deliver or you bow out. Hereditary succession is not possible in democracy.

This shows that Southern Railways has done their homework better than Mr. MP. Being less congested, Mangalore Junction is an ideal Station for any passenger to reach their destination without hassles. Only caution to be exercised is that instead of turning west from the Mangalore Junction railway station and taking the shortcut, one should turn East and take the bus route as the former is narrow and it is virtually impossible for two vehicles to cross at one place. Mr. MP has tried to play some populist tricks and failed miserably.

Mangalore Junction was created possibly to avoid trains not getting crowded at the Central station being at the heart of mangalore -- the central station of mangalore is not in a vast area -- -- A junction is like a Hub -- So it assumed Central station is a spoke --( HUB AND SPOKE )-- There are better things to have demanded for -- in case of Mangalore and Dakshina kannada -- NALIN K wasted 5 years --lost as a leader of BJP -- state elections -- and now in the fag end of tenure some foolish demand -- just to be in the news -- next can try stand up comedy -- bigger crowds may attend ----

Mangalore is the only place lacking air and train connectivity, though being a major port which handles immense tonnage of export cargo with a short turn-around. Airport is totally been serviced only with Air india express flights and is limited to gulf regions. Shame on our politicians who are at the mercy of big shots and claiming Mangalore as smart city. I doubt if they even know the facilities a smart city should be having. Hats off to Kerala, which is having 5 int'l airports and with huge connectivity from all over the world.

Time to reject the MP and look for a new face. Ideally Mangaluru should have been a separate railway division by now. They always mention technical issues and other challenges to create a separate railway division. If 90% revenue comes from Mangaluru Central and Manguluru Junction stations, why do we need to have Palakkad as our division? Simple solution would be, MP should have exerted pressure and cancelled Palakkad division and create new division in Mangaluru...

My strong gut feeling says you strongly canvassed for his candidature ... else you wouldn't be glorifying him. You can see his goof-ups/blunders as a POTENTIAL chap in front of everybody. If you will take the trouble to tell me what are you and your contribution towards the state, I will reciprocate.
