Girl clings to truck bumper after sand truck hits scooter in Maharashtra

Ahilyanagar, Oct 10: A girl narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident after a speeding sand-laden truck rammed into her scooter on Belapur Road in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district. The girl managed to grab the truck's bumper during the collision, preventing herself from being thrown onto the road or coming under the heavy vehicle. The incident was captured on CCTV.

The two-minute video shows the truck approaching a stretch of Belapur Road before suddenly turning right without appearing to slow down or give sufficient warning. The truck strikes the scooter approaching from its right, causing a collision.

As the impact occurs, the girl grabs hold of the truck's bumper, managing to avoid being flung onto the road or crushed beneath the vehicle. She subsequently gets up and walks away from the scene as bystanders rush over to check on her condition.

A few seconds later, the truck driver is seen getting out of the vehicle and inspecting the damaged scooter. He also appears to argue with people who have gathered at the spot. As more locals assemble, the driver reportedly flees the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck did not have a number plate and was allegedly linked to the Mahalgaon sand auction in Vaijapur. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

The incident has renewed concerns over the alleged operation of speeding sand trucks without valid permits in the area. Local residents have demanded strict police action against vehicles violating traffic regulations and operating without the required documentation.

The CCTV footage has drawn attention to the dangers posed by heavy vehicles making sudden turns and the need for stricter enforcement of road safety rules.
