Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 10: The state government is mulling to build a cruise port at Ullal to boost tourism, immediately after first international cruise route was sanctioned for Mumbai.

Minister Mankala Vaidya conveyed the information after holding progress meeting of coastal districts on Thursday.

The blueprint of 625-meter long and 1325-meter wide cruise port between Talapady and Battappady beach near NH 66 is already done. Discussion over vehicle parking, terminal building, administrative office and other facilities provision was held in the meeting.

The minister said that there is huge demand for water transport and cruise tourism on the western coast of India. Hence, the human water transport port (cruise) is being built near Ullal on the southern part of Mangaluru. The government has thought of building port which can accommodate two 10-meter deep cruise ships at a time.

At first let Mlore get more connectivity to international destinations by air. Currently Air india express is holding the monopoly. We need extended destinations with more frequency of flights. Currently only Dubai is been served with daily flights, while Muscat is been served with 2 flights a week. When there are lot more local citizens in part of europe, south east asia etc..why is there no connectivity ? Though many of gulf airlines are looking for landing rights, they have been denied, where air india express is keeping the monopoly. Until when M'lore will have the same ??? M'lore is also a hub for export, and when several other airlines arrive, the revenue shall also increase, which shall benefit m'lore in many ways. But invain no one is raising this issue to the highest level. M'lore is the only destination where least destinations are been served and have to depend on B'lore or Mumbai to reach to other destinations.
