11 rescued after fishing boat sinks off Goa coast

Panaji, Jul 26: A fishing boat sank off Sunset Beach at Betalbatim in Goa on Sunday, triggering a swift rescue operation in which all 11 persons on board were brought to safety.

Officials said all the occupants of the vessel were rescued without any loss of life. One person was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while the remaining passengers were reported to be safe.

Following the rescue, authorities launched an operation to recover the vessel. The fishing boat was later towed ashore to Nanu Beach for further inspection and further necessary action.

The exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to the fishing boat sinking.
