Mangaluru: Govt approves purchase of Rs 27.15 crore worth waste collecting vehicles for MCC

Mangaluru, Aug 30: The government has approved purchase of Rs 27.15 crore worth vehicles for collection and transport of solid waste from sixty wards of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) under Swachh Bharat Mission. Order for their supply is already placed.

Rs 4.81 crore worth hydraulic pick-up vehicles from Camian Automobiles company, Ballari have reached the office of the MCC. 

“The sixty wards in the city corporation have been divided into four zones. The collection of dry and wet waste will be outsourced in separate packages in the four zones for a year including purchase of vehicles, human resources and management. The tender process of the contractors is in the final stage,” said MCC commissioner C L Anand.

A jet sewer suck machine also is purchased for maintenance of underground drainage at zone No 2, ward No 21 to 40. The machine has a capacity of 6,000 litres. The machine has been bought from Quality Enviro Engineering Private Limited at a cost of Rs 39.11 lac.
