Mangaluru, Aug 12: Antony Bela is a much known name in the musical and sports fraternity in and around Kasargod and Mangaluru. He has bagged hundreds of prizes in singing competitions held across Karnataka and Kerala. He has worked as musician and singer for a number of well-known musical troupes. He was a very good volleyball player and has played for many famous volleyball teams in Mangaluru and Kasargod. He had many dreams for his future, wanted his children to pursue good education and was determined to make his dreams come true through a job. Unfortunately, luck was not in his favour.

After experiencing slight difficulties in heath, Antony visited a clinic for examination. After a detailed examination, it was confirmed that he is suffering from lung cancer. The doctors from Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru recommended regular chemotherapy and specialized treatment. The specialized treatment costs nearly Rs 8 lac.

Currently, Antony is undergoing her treatment at KMC, Mangaluru. Antony's wife Praja Martis is a homemaker and is now helpless and watching in dismay as her husband's health is deteriorating with each passing day. Meanwhile, she has to find a way to feed their three kids. The local bank has already begun to send due notices on loans which Antony took a year ago to construct his new house. Antony's brother and close relatives have already spent more than Rs 4 lac for the initial treatment. Now their economic condition too has become very poor. Praja is seeking financial help from willing donors to save her husband. She hopes that his treatment continues and he can lead a normal life again.
