Mangaluru, Jul 28: More than 1300 goods trucks arrive in the city everyday. However, there is no arrangement for these vehicles to park. This has caused hardship to drivers of outstation trucks.

D Devaraj Urs Truck Terminal organisation held a meeting with district administration and asked the officials to identify 15 acres of land to park the trucks. Later, the organisation wrote a letter to the district administration urging the authorities to hand over nine acres of land near NMPA, Baikampady to them in August 2022.

Truck terminal organisation once again wrote a letter to the district administration on December 16, 2022 requesting them to provide government land by the side of the highway.

Sunil D’Souza, president of Dakshina Kannada Truck Owners’ Association, says, “We have met people's representatives and officials and requested them to establish a truck terminal soon. The truck terminal organisation has also requested the same with the district administration. But till now the land has not been finalised.”

“More than 1000 trucks arrive at NMPA, MCF and MRPL everyday. More than 300 trucks carrying cement and steel arrive in the city every day from outstation districts. They can park for half an hour at the most in petrol pumps. This causes burden on drivers as they can neither take rest nor do they feel a sense of security. Government should release grant immediately,” urged Sunil D’Souza.
